Joseph State Airport [JSY]

The City of Joseph is located in the center of Wallowa County in northeastern Oregon. Joseph State Airport is situated on approximately 74 acres, one mile west of the City.

The Airport is located west of the Wallowa National Forest boundary and approximately six miles south of the community of Enterprise. The Airport is owned and operated by the ODAV and is frequently used to support aerial firefighting activity in the region.

Nearby points of interest include the Wallowa County Museum; Hells Canyon (the deepest gorge in North America); and Wallowa Lake State Park which provides a marina, cabins, camping, water sports, a go-cart track, horseback riding, llama treks, and hiking trails. Tourism and agriculture play an important role in the area economy. The area is rich with artisans, galleries, and bronze foundries. Major employers in the Wallowa area include the U.S. Forest Service, Wallowa County Schools, Wallowa County Grain Growers, and the Wallowa Memorial Hospital.

The Airport currently has one runway oriented in a northwest-southeast direction. This visual approach runway, Runway 15/33, measures 5,200 feet in length by 60 feet in width. Runway 15/33 is equipped with MIRL. The Airport currently accommodates 14 based aircraft and handles approximately 3,850 annual general aviation operations. An estimated 78 percent of the Airport's operations are itinerant.
