The apron at the Prospect State Airport will be closed for approximately 2 weeks for reconstruction, starting 6am Monday October 13th.

Prospect Apron 1

The runway was fully reconstructed earlier this summer, and now the apron will be fully repaved this month. Along with new pavement, this project will include new tiedowns and markings.

The brand new runway and apron, which were over 60 years old, will continue to serve the local community and southern cascade region for commerce, recreation, and critical aerial firefighting. With all new electrical equipment including runway lighting, beacon, and a lighted windsock, the Prospect State Airport will continue to provide a safe alternative landing place for aircraft flying over the mountains.

The apron reconstruction project is funded by the Oregon Department of Aviation's State Owned Airport Reserve (SOAR) fund, from its Aviation System Action Program (ASAP).

Prospect Apron

The apron will be closed for approximately 2 weeks* starting 6am October 13th.

*Reopening dates and times are subject to change, additional information will be shared as soon as it is available.

(!) When the apron is closed, there will be no aircraft parking available at Prospect until the apron reopens.

(!!) The runway will remain open for touch and goes, and emergency landings only.

(!!!) Please check NOTAMs for closure times and the most current airport surface closures.

Thank you for your patience while we maintain the Prospect State Airport.

The Prospect State Airport (64S) Runway Rehabilitation and Electrical Improvement project will begin Tuesday May 13th, 2025. A previous notice showed the project starting Monday May 5th. NOTAMs have been updated to reflect this change.

This project will provide a new runway surface and electrical system including runway lighting and navigational aids.

Project/Closure Schedule:
  • The runway will be closed starting 7am Tuesday May 13th.
  • We expect substantial completion by July 31st.
  • The runway may be closed for the duration of the project.
During construction, the runway will be closed to fixed-wing aircraft. Once the project begins, any fixed-wing aircraft at 64S will not be able to depart until the airport reopens after construction is completed.

(!) For the most current updates on field conditions and surface closures throughout this project, please check the latest NOTAMs. Helicopters may arrive or depart directly to/from the apron. However, space is very limited and construction personnel and equipment will be on the apron frequently. As always, please remain outside of, and avoid low flight over closed work areas.

We understand any runway closure impacts pilots and the community. Our goal is to maintain and improve the Prospect State Airport so it can continue to operate safely and efficiently. We appreciate your patience and understanding while we maintain 64S.
