The community of Wasco is located in the northern portion of Sherman County, south of the Columbia River.




Wasco State Airport is located north of U.S. Route 97, approximately one mile east of the community. The Airport, which is owned by and operated by the ODAV, is located approximately 10 miles south of the Columbia River. There are numerous canyons throughout the area. Sherman County's primary industry is agriculture, forestry, fishing, and hunting. The Airport has one east-west runway, Runway 7/25, that measures 3,450 feet long by 60 feet wide. 



The visual runway is paved, provides a partial parallel taxiway, and is equipped with MIRL. The Airport handles an estimated 2,435 general aviation operations annually. It is estimated that 58 percent of these operations are itinerant. Approximately four aircraft are based at the Airport.

​The Oregon Department of Aviation will be refreshing airfield markings at the Wasco State Airport (35S) Tuesday August 5th.

Staff will be applying markings on the runway, taxiways, and aprons.

Wasco State Airport

The runway will be closed at 35S beginning 7am Tuesday August 5th for painting. 

We will reopen the runway as soon as this work is finished. Work may continue on the taxiways and apron after the runway is reopened.

(!) Please check NOTAMs for closure times and the most current airport surface closures.

(!!) Helicopters may arrive or depart directly to/from open areas of the airport. As always, please remain outside of, and avoid low flight over closed work areas.
