The City of Bandon is located in the southwest portion of the State of Oregon along the Pacific Ocean coast. Bandon State Airport is situated on approximately 132 acres, approximately two miles south of the City. U.S. Highway 101 runs parallel to the Airport on its west side. 

The Airport is currently owned and operated by the Oregon Department of Aviation. The City of Bandon is considered to be an important harbor town, as well as a popular vacation spot. 

The area is famous for its cranberry products, celebrated each September with the Cranberry Festival. The Oldtown Harbor District is famous for its shops, galleries, and restaurants. Nearby points of interest include the Port of Bandon which provides access to an estimated 26 miles of the Coquille River, as well as the Moorage Basin with 80 slips for commercial and recreational boats, a boat launching ramp, fishing and crabbing docks, and boardwalk/pier access. Principal industries in the area include forestry, fishing, tourism, retail sales, ranching, and farming.

Bandon State Airport's runway, Runway 16/34, is oriented in a north-south direction. Runway 16/34 is 3,601 feet long and 60 feet wide and is serviced by a full length parallel taxiway. Runway 16/34 is currently a visual approach runway with MIRL, REILs and PAPIs. The Airport currently accommodates 25 based aircraft and handles approximately 7,000 annual general aviation operations. Approximately 42 percent of the Airport's operations are itinerant.

The Oregon Department of Aviation is planning to start the Bandon Runway and Taxiway Surface Seal Project in August 2025.

This project will include crack seal, asphalt patch repair, surface seal, and new pavement markings on the runway and taxiways. 

Bandon

The runway and south taxiways are expected to be closed for 5 days, and the midfield and north taxiways will be closed for 6 additional days. A detailed schedule and start date will be provided in the coming weeks. 

(!) When the runway is closed, fixed wing aircraft will not be able to arrive or depart at Bandon until the runway reopens. The runway may reopen temporarily throughout the project while work is being done on the taxiways. Back-taxi may be required depending on taxiway closures. 

(!!) Please check NOTAMs for closure times and the most current airport surface closures. Helicopters may arrive or depart directly to/from open areas of the airport. As always, please remain outside of, and avoid low flight over closed work areas.

10/15/2025
Update - The Bandon State Airport Runway and Taxiways will close for final markings application Thursday October 23rd, 2025.

Final markings application will complete the Runway and Taxiway Surface Seal Project, which was substantially completed in September, and included crack seal, asphalt patch repair, surface seal, and new pavement markings on the runway and taxiways. 

Bandon

Starting 10am October 23rd, the runway and taxiways will be closed until approximately 7pm the same day*. The runway and taxiways will reopen when this work is completed.

(!) When the runway is closed, fixed wing aircraft will not be able to arrive or depart at Bandon until the runway reopens. The runway may reopen temporarily throughout the project while work is being done on the taxiways. Back-taxi may be required depending on taxiway closures.
