Oregon's statewide sick time law (OL 537, 2015) has preempted the City of Portland's sick leave ordinance.  Information on the new, statewide requirements for sick time is available here.
Make sure you know how mandatory sick time laws impact your business!
BOLI's Technical Assistance for Employers unit will be offering a series of seminars to help employers get up to speed with the new requirements.
Answers to frequently asked questions are available on their webpage and a personal representative is just a phone call or email away.

Under the Portland protected sick time law, employees accrued one hour of sick time for every 30 hours of work performed in Portland, up to a maximum of 40 hours per year.  Employees may also carry over up to 40 hours of unused sick time to the following year.

While Portland employers with five or fewer employees must only provide unpaid sick time, employers with six or more employees are required to provide paid sick time to their employees.
It is unlawful for an employer to take any retaliatory personnel action against any person for exercising rights or attempting to exercise rights under the ordinance.
Any person claiming to be aggrieved by a violation of the ordinance may file a complaint with BOLI.
