Broadband Home

This State of Oregon website provides information regarding the availability of broadband Internet services in Oregon and broadband planning activities. The map was initially funded by grant funds from the National Telecommunications and Information Administration's (NTIA) State Broadband Initiative (SBI). We periodically update representations of broadband service availability in Oregon using an Interactive Map by working with state agencies, the federal government, broadband service providers, and local community organizations.

In August 2014, a second Oregon Broadband Adoption and Utilization Survey was completed. This second survey provides Oregon-specific statewide, regional and demographic rates of:

·         broadband adoption

·         computer ownership

·         service availability

·         Internet use

·         barriers to adoption

·         perceptions of cost

·         user satisfaction

and how these factors measure against the results of the first survey and certain key broadband statistics nationally. The type of devices used for Internet connection and the Internet activities being engaged were expanded in this second survey.

2014 Oregon Broadband Adoption Survey Report (1.9MB)

In January 2011, an Oregon-specific broadband adoption- and use-focused survey was completed. It includes comparisons with national broadband adoption and utilization statistics. Highlights from the report show that Oregon broadband adoption is above the national average overall, and in many demographic aspects. However, there are notable differences between regions within Oregon. The entire report is large - which makes for an extended download time - so we have made smaller, individual sections of the report available for separate and faster download.
