Planning for drought resiliency

The drought and water conservation posters available through Publishing & Distribution are one way state agencies, boards and commissions are implementing Governor Kate Brown’s Executive Order on planning for drought resiliency.

Executive Order 15-09 noted that Oregon’s drought may persist or get worse in coming years and that if long-term climate predictions are correct, hotter and drier conditions may become the new normal.

Agencies have been directed to develop and place signs and other messaging in state-owned buildings to encourage state employees to reduce their non-essential use of water. The goal is to have a 15 percent aggregate reduction of non-essential water consumption in state-owned facilities by December 31, 2020.

These posters are a reminder of that goal and are also an outreach tool to encourage voluntary water conservation, even when it rains.
