[background piano] (Oregon Department of Consumer and Business Services Director Andrew Stolfi) The Department of Consumer and Business Services is Oregon's largest consumer protection and business regulatory agency. At DCBS, we are focused on consumer protection, worker safety and health, and building safety. The department is made up of the Building Codes Division, the Division of Financial Regulation, the Ombuds Office for Oregon Workers, Oregon OSHA, the Small Business Ombudsman, the Workers' Compensation Board, and the Workers' Compensation Division. (Narrator) Our mission is to protect and serve Oregon's consumers and workers while supporting a positive business climate, and we do this in lots of different ways. The Building Codes Division works with Oregonians to ensure safe building construction. Consumers might go to the Building Codes Division to find information on building permits and to confirm contractor licenses and inspector certifications. The Division of Financial Regulation protects consumers and regulates insurance, state banks and credit unions, trust companies, securities, and consumer financial products and services. Consumers can go to the Division of Financial Regulation to file an insurance or financial services complaint, verify a license, or learn about insurance and financial services. (Andrew Stolfi) The Ombuds Office for Oregon Workers is an independent advocate that helps workers understand their rights, benefits, protections, and responsibilities within the workers' compensation system, as well as workplace safety and health. Oregon OSHA is dedicated to improving workplace safety and health. Oregon OSHA is committed to working with labor, business, and other government agencies in pursuit of that goal. Workers go to Oregon OSHA to report a safety concern at work, learn about workplace rights and responsibilities, and learn about managing workplace safety and health hazards. Employers go to Oregon OSHA to receive help creating a safe and healthy work environment, to find online training resources, and to learn about free, confidential safety consultations. (Narrator) The Small Business Ombudsman is an independent advocate for small businesses in Oregon. It helps small-business owners learn about workers' compensation coverage requirements. For example, who needs workers' compensation coverage, how to buy it, and what happens if you donĂ¢'t have it. The Workers' Compensation Board conducts hearings, case reviews, and mediation services. The board resolves disputes that arise under workers' compensation laws and the Oregon Safe Employment Act. (Andrew Stolfi) And finally, the Workers' Compensation Division administers and regulates laws and rules that affect workers, employers, insurers, claims examiners, attorneys, medical providers, and others. The Workers' Compensation Division ensures that injured workers receive timely and accurate benefits and quality medical care. The division also helps injured workers return to work through incentive programs for employers. (Narrator) The work we do at the Department of Consumer and Business Services helps provide consumer protection, worker protection, and building safety. We are honored and proud to be serving the people of Oregon and hope and we are here to help. (Andrew Stolfi) Through all of our programs and activities, we work hard to protect and educate Oregonians. We are proud of our mission and thank you for wanting to learn more about who we are and what we do.
