RightStart Orientation for New Employees We designed the DCBS RightStart program with you in mind. Our goal is to take the guess work out of what’s next and provide you with information to set you up for success.

This happens the first and third Monday of every month. If you don’t start on a day that orientation is being presented, you will attend the program the following week.

While we expect that each new employee’s first day will look similar, each will also be a little different. If you are scheduled to report to the L&I Building, the following is a general idea of what you can expect. If your first day is at one of our field offices, your first day schedule will be set by your manager.

8 a.m.: Arrive at the L&I and meet your mentor in lobby of the building. Meet with manager. Tour of the work area (desk location, break rooms, work rooms, etc.)

8:30 a.m.: RightStart Orientation for New Employees

Noon: Lunch break

Your time in the afternoon will be spent between your mentor and manager and will consist of the following:

  • Orientation to your computer and phone
  • Ergonomic assessment
  • Policy and procedure review
  • Tour of building (location of divisions, conference rooms, café)
  • Explanation of emergency procedures
