Rulemaking contact: Randy Trox, 541-687-7338
DEQ is conducting a rulemaking to update its rules concerning onsite wastewater management systems, commonly called septic systems. DEQ's onsite rules have become outdated over time. This rulemaking will bring standards and practices up to date and add new products and tools. The rulemaking may also increase some fees to cover current expenses. The rulemaking will affect divisions -071 and -073 of DEQ's administrative rules. DEQ expects to complete this rulemaking in the fall of 2019.
Onsite Technical Review Committee
The Technical Review Committee consists of up to nine persons appointed by the DEQ director. The committee includes onsite wastewater treatment experts from local government, DEQ, equipment manufacturers, consultants, installers and pumpers and others with technical or scientific knowledge applicable to the onsite program.
Committee actions will be posted here as information becomes available.
Advisory committee meetings are open to the public. The public may attend the meeting, but the committee has discretion whether to allow the public to participate in the meeting.
The public will be able to comment on the proposed rule changes during the public notice and comment period later in the rulemaking. DEQ publishes meeting notices on the state events calendar.
