Special meeting of the Oregon Environmental Quality Commission
March 18, 2020: Teleconference only
On March 18, 2020, the commission authorized DEQ Director Whitman to temporarily waive the Vehicle Inspection Program emission testing requirements for Portland-metro and Medford residents registering, or renewing, passenger vehicles until April 14, 2020.
People affected by this action are only those that live within the Portland and Medford-area VIP testing boundaries, which you can verify through a DEQ online lookup tool.
The commission held a special meeting by phone to take action on the Indirect Source Petition and an order related to the Vehicle Inspection Program. People could attend by toll-free telephone conference line.
- Toll-free line: 844-291-6362
- Access code: 6533194
Participants may dial in to the toll-free line starting at 9:50 a.m. You will be asked to enter an access code, seen above. All participants' lines will be muted for the duration of the call, as this is a "listen-in" line only.
DEQ will propose a recommendation for commission action in response to a petition asking the commission to create new rules and permitting program elements to control emissions from indirect sources of air pollution.
DEQ will propose an order delegating authorization to the DEQ director to issue a temporary variance to the state's requirements for Vehicle Inspection Program certification prior to renewal of a vehicle registration.
The commission is expected to adjourn by 11:30 a.m.
