About the program
DEQ is in the process of developing a new Climate Protection Program to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and address the effects of climate change. This program will limit emissions from some of the most significant sources in Oregon, including large stationary sources, transportation fuels, and other liquid and gaseous fuels, such as natural gas.
DEQ is now accepting public comments on the proposed Climate Protection Program and proposed rules and plans to hold two public hearings. Anyone can attend the hearings. The hearings will be by webinar and teleconference only.
The comment period closes on Oct. 25, 2021 at 4 p.m.
For more information on how to comment in writing or at a public hearing and to read the Notice of Proposed Rulemaking, visit the Greenhouse Gas Emissions Program 2021 Rulemaking page.
DEQ will propose rules to the EQC in late 2021 so that the program is ready to start at the beginning of 2022.
