Hazardous Waste Fees 2019

Adopted rule

Contact: Jeannette Acomb, 503-229-6303

The Oregon Department of Environmental Quality is proposing to align its hazardous waste fees to better support program needs. We are using a multi-phase project to amend fee funding over several years to increase fees. These fees will affect 500 sites producing hazardous waste and two businesses operating permitted treatment, storage, and disposal facilities. The proposed fees will ensure DEQ continues to implement the state’s federally delegated hazardous waste management program while providing technical assistance to many more business.

DEQ is convening the 2018 Hazardous Waste Fees Advisory Committee to inform Phase 1 of this project.

Once advisory committee meetings are complete, DEQ will begin the formal rulemaking process. DEQ will seek public comment on the proposed rules during a formal public comment period slated for early 2019. DEQ will consider all comments before preparing a final rule Phase I proposed rules package. DEQ expects to present the proposed rules to the Environmental Quality Commission in mid-2019.
