Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program Education (SNAP-Ed)
Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program Education

The goal of SNAP-Ed is to provide educational programs that help low income households, in particularly SNAP recipients, make healthy food choices and active life styles consistent with the message reflected in the Dietary Guidelines for Americans and the My Plate.

In Oregon, OSU Extension Service is contracted with the SNAP Program in the Department of Human Services (DHS) to provide activities that help bring awareness of the importance of good nutrition to the targeted audience and improve their health by promoting good eating habits. Besides OSU Extension Service, the Child Nutrition Program (CNP) in Oregon Department of Education (ODE), the WIC Program in DHS and the Nutrition Council of Oregon are also actively involved in delivering nutrition education to Oregonians.
