How to start a Private Security or Alarm Monitoring Business in Oregon


To Establish a Private Security or Alarm Monitoring Company in Oregon*:

·      At least one person must be licensed at the level of Executive Manager (EM). Click here for detailed requirements and information on becoming an EM.
·      Ensure all security staff or alarm monitors are certified through DPSST.  To begin the certification process, select one of the links below: 
·      Register your business with the Corporations Division of the Secretary of State’s office.  Please visit their website for additional information at:  http://sos.oregon.gov/business/Pages/default.aspx
    •     Please note that DPSST regulates the certification and licensure of Private Security and Alarm Monitoring Professionals (Individuals).  DPSST do not regulate the licensing of corporations or businesses.​  
*A business is not required to have a physical office in Oregon to do Private Security or Alarm Monitoring business here.  Nor is it required that the Executive Manager reside in Oregon.
