    shallock.jpgOn Oct. 13, 2015, the State Land Board appointed Stephanie Hallock Cummins interim director of the Department of State Lands. A third generation Oregonian, Hallock’s career in public service began in1979, when she was a presidential management intern with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency in San Francisco.
    Hallock served as administrator of the Oregon Department of Environmental Quality’s Hazardous and Solid Waste Program and administrator of DEQ’s operations in eastern Oregon before becoming director of the agency from 2001 to 2008.
    During her tenure at DEQ, Hallock also led the Healthy Streams Partnership of the Oregon Plan for Salmon and Watersheds in the Governor’s Office, and served as a policy advisor to two governors on destruction of the chemical weapons stockpile at the Umatilla Army Depot.
    In 2008, Hallock left DEQ to join the National Policy Consensus Center at Portland State University where she managed Oregon Solutions projects in the Lower John Day Basin, The Dalles, Vernonia, and the City of Portland. She currently serves on the Oregon Board of Agriculture, and since June of 2014 has been a member of the Elliott State Forest team at DSL.
    Hallock holds a Bachelor of Arts in English and a Master’s in Public Administration from Portland State University.

The Aquatic Resource Management program's primary function is to conserve and protect waters of the state, including wetlands, through the removal-fill, wetlands planning, and proprietary waterways programs.
