Salem, OR—At 8:55 a.m. today, Governor Brown declared the Memaloose #2 fire to be a Conflagration Emergency. The Memaloose #2 fire is burning near Mosier and threatens at least 70 homes. With 35 mph gusts predicted, Governor Brown determined additional resources were necessary to protect lives and homes in the area.

"As this fire moves towards homes near Mosier, I am sending additional resources to the scene so crews can attack it quickly as weather conditions worsen. While firefighters work to keep families safe and protect these homes, I ask Oregonians to do their part: honor all fire restrictions and be cautious as they travel throughout our state," said Governor Brown.

In accordance with ORS 476.510 - 476.610, Governor Brown determined that a threat to life, safety, and property exists due to the fire, and the threat exceeds the firefighting capabilities of local firefighting personnel and equipment. The Governor's declaration authorizes the Oregon Office of State Fire Marshal to mobilize resources to assist local resources battling the fire.
