Salem, OR—At 2:58 p.m. today, Governor Kate Brown declared the Stubblefield fire to be a conflagration emergency. The Stubblefield fire is burning in Gilliam County. The conflagration emergency will deploy additional state resources to the scene.

"Due to the amount of fire burning throughout the state and in Gilliam County, I am sending additional resources to the scene to ensure teams on the ground have all the tools in the toolbox to keep families safe and protect values at risk. Local resources have responded to numerous fires and we are responding due to the severe draw down in local mutual aid resources currently available. This has been an incredibly difficult wildfire season and I urge Oregonians to do all they can to remain vigilant, be safe and smart," said Governor Brown.

In accordance with ORS 476.510 - 476.610, Governor Brown determined that a threat to life, safety, and property exists due to the fire, and the threat exceeds the firefighting capabilities of local firefighting personnel and equipment. The Governor's declaration authorizes the Oregon Office of State Fire Marshal to mobilize resources to assist local resources battling the fire.
