Salem, OR—At 8:08 p.m. today, Governor Kate Brown approved an emergency conflagration declaration for the Ramsay Canyon Fire in Jackson County burning outside Gold Hill. At the time of the declaration, up to 200 homes were threatened, some under level 3 and some under level 2 notices.

"To ensure the safety of Jackson county residents, I am invoking the emergency conflagration declaration for the Ramsay Canyon Fire," said Governor Kate Brown. "With the ongoing fires across the state, I urge Oregonians to remain vigilant and safe during the active wildfire season."

In accordance with ORS 476.510 - 476.610, Governor Brown determined that a threat to life, safety, and property exists due to the fire, and the threat exceeds the firefighting capabilities of local firefighting personnel and equipment. The Governor's declaration authorizes the Oregon Office of State Fire Marshal to mobilize resources to assist local resources battling the fire.
