Salem, OR—Governor Kate Brown today announced the appointment of Terrence Woods as State Chief Information Officer. Woods will be responsible for implementing Governor Brown's goal of ensuring user-friendly, reliable, and secure state technology systems that serve Oregonians.

Woods developed Governor Brown's strategy for modernizing the state's informati… , which builds an improved structure to deliver the wide range of services the state manages, while at the same time improving overall IT project management and security and reducing the risk of failure.

"Terrence's service over the past eight months as Interim State Chief Information Officer has brought a focus on my goal to streamline state government and modernize our systems to better serve Oregonians," said Governor Brown. "I look forward to Terrence's continued leadership in providing reliable, resilient, and secure information technology systems and services."

Woods brings over 18 years of leadership and knowledge having served as the Chief Information Officer and Administrative Services Administrator for the Oregon Department of Revenue; Chair of the State of Oregon Chief Information Officer Council; Director of Information Technology for the Oregon Health Authority; and Deputy Chief Information Officer for the Department of Human Services. Outside the public sector, Woods was a regional technology manager, and he served as a human resources manager for three years. Woods graduated with a Bachelor of Arts from the Portland State University School of Business and received a Master of Arts in Organizational Leadership from Gonzaga University.
