Oregon Formulary & Jurisprudence Exams~ Applications, Requirements, Dates


The next Oregon Jurisprudence examination for licensure will be held Monday, February 3, 2020 for those who are taking the NPLEX exams in February or anyone who has already taken the NPLEX and passed NPLEX Part I, NPLEX Part II, NPLEX Minor Surgery elective and the NPLEX Pharmacology examinations.

Jurisprudence: 10:00 -11:30 am

Application Deadline: Applications must be postmarked no later than 
Monday, January 13, 2020

Fees to be sent to Oregon Board of Naturopathic Medicine, 800 NE Oregon Street Suite 407, Portland, OR 97232:
$150 Exam fee must accompany the completed application
$  50 Background fee must be submitted directly to OBNM when you have the live scan sent to the Oregon State Police (OSP)*. There will be a separate fee charged by the fingerprinting service.
Make check or money order payable to Oregon Board of Naturopathic Medicine.

You may download application materials below or contact this office to have an examination packet mailed to you.

The Board must have these items before you can sit for the exam:

1. Official Naturopathic School Transcripts
2. Copy of your diploma from Naturopathic school 
3. NPLEX transcripts showing passage of NPLEX Part I- Basic Sciences, NPLEX Part II-Clinical, NPLEX Minor Surgery and NPLEX Pharmacolgy examinations.

Additionally the following are required for licensure:

4. Official Undergraduate Transcripts
5. Live scan to OSP, passed and $50 fee to Naturopathic Board

* It's a good idea to request your undergraduate transcripts early and to submit your fingerprint for background check as soon as your application has been submitted; although both are only required for licensure. Delays will in turn delay licensure.

Applying for licensure

After passing the NPLEX exams, Oregon state exam, completing the background check and sending in all required documents, you may be eligible to apply for a license to practice. 

License fee:

The fee for an initial license is pro-rated according to the date application was recieved by the Oregon Board of Naturopathic Medicine (OBNM).

January 1-March 31, must pay $300 for initial license
April 1-June 30, must pay $225 for initial license
July 1-September 30, must pay $150 for initial license
October 1-December 31, must pay $75 for initial license

Initial license expires December 31, in the year it was issued.
