"I have been a Web Specialist and Legislative Coordinator with ODE for 3 years. I work to develop and edit web pages, forms, news messages, and other communication. My background is in journalism and graphic design, and I enjoy telling a story through developing web pages. Espcially with the new website in progress, I like that we can communicate the good work that ODE does by making information user friendly and accessible. In IT, we have good people who do serious work and still have a lot of fun. In the end, we indirectly support students by providing services to support employees."

"I strongly believe in the values of ODE. especially in promoting equality for children though the state. As a registered dietitian, I know the importance of promoting good nutrition in children. Starting as early as possible, in order to promote better health and education outcomes. AtODE, I have had opportunities to grow my professional skill sets and meet people from all over Oregon who are as passionate about providing good meals to children as I am. My managers and coworkers are so supportive. It's great to come to work and feel like your're making a difference, but it's even better to know that your team supports you in the same goals."

—Shirley Wu, Child Nutrition Specialist
