The Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriations Act, 2021 (CRRSA Act) provided an additional $54.3 billion for the Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief Fund II (ESSER II). $499.1 million was awarded to Oregon in January 2021. $449.2 million was awarded to LEAs in the proportion they received funds under Part A of Title I of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA) in fiscal year 2020. $2.5 million (.5%) was retained for SEA grant administration. The remaining $47.4 million (9.5%) was largely awarded to ESDs and other educational programs across the state to reach students that might not otherwise be served. ESSER II Fund grants were used to reimburse eligible expenses incurred between March 13, 2020 and September 30, 2023.
Note: The CRRSA Act does not include an Equitable Services provision for the ESSER II Fund grants. Funding for non-public schools has been provided under the
Emergency Assistance for Non-Public Schools (EANS) Program.
