Essentialized Assessment Frameworks (EAFs)

Essentialized Assessment Frameworks (EAFs) were developed by the Oregon Department of Education (ODE) and Behavioral Research & Teaching (BRT) at the University of Oregon in order to increase accessibility, as well as overall academic expectations, for students with significant cognitive disabilities (SWSCDs) in Oregon.

The following links provide information regarding making grade level content accessible to SWSCDs:

Additionally, an online course regarding Curricular and Instructional Materials for SWSCDs is available from the BRT Online Training site. This course includes information on:

  • Developing PLAAFPs aligned to essentialized standards
  • Developing IEP goals and objectives aligned to essentialized standards
  • Developing C & I templates (ELA, Math, Science) based on essentialized standards
