The Oregon Department of Education is responsible for providing educational services to youth in the Oregon Youth Authority Correctional and County Juvenile Detention Facilities within Oregon. Currently, there are ten Oregon Youth Authority and fifteen County Juvenile Detention facilities in Oregon.

The Youth Corrections Education Program provides a high quality education to all youth in OYA facilities.
In doing this, we value:
- Standards-based individualized education;
- Collaboration with all partners including youth served, ODE, OYA, LEA/ESDs, and other state and community agencies;
- Educational services offered in a safe, secure, and healthy environment;
- Educational programming with youth that reduces risk factors that contribute to recidivism; and, Preparation for successful community living.
