Seedling Acquisition Program

About the ODF Seedling Acquisition Program (SAP)

SAP is a short-term service by ODF to increase small, private, non-industrial landowner access to seedlings for reforestation purposes across 2020 wildfire footprints.

Landowners looking to reforest their property in the 2023 planting season are invited to use this online service to place orders up to 20,000 seedlings. Larger orders should be placed directly with tree nurseries.

Landowners who previously indicated their need for seedlings to ODF Stewardship Foresters, OSU Extension or other partner entities will be prioritized in the selection process. All others will be considered on a 'first come, first served" basis.

Order process: What to expect

  • The link below will collect information on landowner reforestation needs and planting location. Landowners must indicate their seedling needs before Jan. 12, 2023.
  • Within the order form, species, seed zone and elevation options will be available to choose from in each fire footprint served. Landowners may request up to 20,000 seedlings.
  • ODF will use information submitted to prepare landowner seedlings for pickup and invoicing.
  • Landowners will be contacted after Jan. 12 with a confirmation, along with times and locations of pickup. Pickups will be local to your fire footprint in February 2023, unless extension through early March is necessary.
  • ODF recommends landowners work with ODF Stewardship Foresters, OSU Extension or Consulting Foresters to determine seedling needs BEFORE placing orders.

Seedling request form

The seedling request form closed on Jan. 12, 2023. Oregon Department of Forestry will contact landowners who submitted a form before Jan. 26 with confirmation, as well as time, date, and location of pick up. Distribution will take place in February; dates differ by location.

Pricing

Seedling cost ranges from $.43-$.65 per seedling. After pickup, landowners will be invoiced for 10% of their order to cover shipping and handling.
