Background
Last month the Oregon Transportation Commission approved a transformational increase in dedicated funds to advance design and construction of curb ramp replacements to meet the terms of the settlement agreement with Disability Rights Oregon.
With this allocation, an additional $700 million is dedicated to curb ramp replacements between now and December 2027. In addition, the OTC committed to a funding strategy extending to 2032. We estimate the total cost of the ADA Program (from 2017 through 2032) to be just over $1.4 billion.
With this funding infusion, the ADA Program will increase the volume of ramp replacement projects. ODOT is reorganizing the ADA Program and is relying on our partnership with the consultant and contracting communities. Our first step is hiring an owner's representative to provide strategic program management, technical quality control and quality assurance, and construction administration and inspection services. We are aiming to post the request for proposals in late January 2023.
The upcoming open house is an opportunity for ODOT to share ADA Program updates and information regarding the upcoming request for proposals for the owner's representative contract.
