Transit Vision Around the Mountain

Project Description

Strategic planning project to improve public access to Mt Hood region. The project will establish a long-term, regional transit vision guiding transit network coordination and integration into the future. The project will result in policy, operating, financial, and governance structures required to achieve the Vision, and a framework of actionable solutions categorized into short, medium, and long-term priorities. Final outputs will be integrated into the Mt. Hood Multimodal Transportation plan, the primary transportation plan in the Mt. Hood Region.

Outcomes
  1. ​​Long-term, regional transit vision guiding the development and implementation of public transportation system. 
  2. Aligned policy, operating, financial, and governance priorities supporting contiguous public transportation system. 
  3. Framework for Action to achieve the unified transit vision 
  4. Project leads and Task Teams to implement short, medium, and long-term priorities
  5. Transit projects integrated into Mt. Hood Multimodal Transportation Plan 2.0, the primary Transportation Plan in the Mt. Hood region.

Workshop Series

Vision Around the Mountain Logo

Strategic planning is a process of creating a plan of action designed to achieve specific goals under conditions of uncertainty. Transit Vision Around the Mountain sponsors will engage stakeholders during series of workshops to develop a regional transit vision, and establish actionable solutions intended to achieve the vision.

The workshops will:

  • Celebrate past successes
  • Consider and honor numerous, local priorities within regional context
  • Daylight commonalities to leverage a common Transit Vision
  • Energize Action

Workshop participants will:

  • Be creative and ambitious
  • Serve as architects of the future
  • Practice solution-oriented thinking
  • Collaborate as partners

Purpose

​Acquire input from stakeholders about existing and future conditions. Input will be used to develop preliminary vision framework for workshop #1.

Purpose

This workshop will include a review of vision framework created from workshop 1. Participants will validate through consensus, and review regional goal compatibility and goal tensions. This workshop is more technical in nature, and begins framing out the ‘how’ in achieving a regional transit vision.​

Purpose

The outcome of this workshop will be identifying short, medium, and long-term priorities under the Vision framework. Participants will guide solution prioritization, identify sponsors, and recommending action schedule. There will likely be a pre-workshop stakeholder activity to gather input in advance of in-person meeting. ​
