About
We completed a planning project for future transportation improvements along a four-mile section of Sandy Boulevard from I-205 to just east of NE 165th Avenue.
The project built on past, relevant work to coordinate ODOT needs lists, local planning and implementation strategies, ODOT's Design Manual (based on the Blueprint for Urban Design framework) to identify and prioritize equitable and impactful investments for vulnerable users who depend on walking, biking and accessing transit along the corridor. In addition, we looked at investments needed to improve roadway operations to standards. Completed outcomes of the project included:- Engaging with the community, including historically underserved populations, along the corridor to understand needs and gather input of proposed projects.
- Collecting relevant existing information, undertaking safety and operational analyses, and evaluating corridor-wide needs.
- Developing solutions and identifiying priority locations for safety and operations investments via a project list.
- The project informs ODOT Region 1's near-term (e.g. within the next ten years) transportation funding plans to strategically invest in projects that leverage future investments such as preservation, bridge maintenance and highway operations improvements while improving safety along the corridor for vulnerable users.
We want to thank the community for your input during this planning project. Your input has helped us inform which improvements to make and which improvements will be prioritized first.
