How to deliver holiday gifts to patients this year

Monday, December 7, 2020

Holidays are special time for loved ones, and friends and family often want to deliver gifts to their family members receiving treatment at the hospital.

In our efforts to curb the spread of COVID-19 at Oregon State Hospital, we are taking additional steps to keep patients safe this holiday season. This includes our process for receiving gifts from friends and family to deliver for patients.

  • We must receive all gifts at the Salem and Junction City campuses between Dec. 18 and Dec. 20 so we can deliver them to patients between Dec. 24 and 25. Please let Reception staff know which of these two days you want us to deliver your gift.
  • The gifts must be unwrapped.
  • Because of staffing shortages, we are unable to wrap gifts this year. We're asking families and friends of patients to include paper gift bags (without handles or staples) and tissue paper.
  • Volunteer Services will provide a limited number of gift bags for people who do not have them.
  • We are accepting donations of gift bags and tissue paper. The gift bags must be paper, not plastic.
  • We will hold all gifts for at least 72 hours before we deliver them to patients in the gift bags.
  • If you drop off your gift Dec. 21 or later, staff will deliver them after Dec. 25 and after the 72-hour hold.

You may drop off the gifts at Reception during regular business hours. Reception staff will provide you with a receipt. When entering the building, you must wear a mask and wash your hands at the hand-washing station.

Thank you for your patience as we all do our part to keep our patients, staff and visitors healthy and safe.
