In-person visitation resumes

Friday, August 26, 2022

In person-visitation resumes for all patients on both the Salem and Junction City campuses starting Thursday, Sept. 1. Approved visitors may register for visitation starting Monday, Aug. 29. Visits may be scheduled for up to one hour at a time.

Visitors are encouraged to review changes to our policies related to patient property and other visitation information before their scheduled visit. One change includes patients no longer being able to receive items or packages either in-person or by mail.

Visitors have the option to purchase items from a patient's approved order form in the OSH Market or to deposit money in a patient's trust account for the patient to make Market purchases later. These changes are part of the plan to enhance patient health and safety following a Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) survey.

Each campus has safety precautions in place to reduce the risk of spreading COVID-19. These include:

  • In-person visitation is open to any patient who is not on a unit impacted by exposure or potential exposure to COVID-19.
  • All visits will take place in designated locations and physical distance will be encouraged.
  • Visitors and patients will wear masks.
  • Visitors will compete the same health screening as all OSH employees, which includes a temperature check and three health-related questions, such as:
    • Do you have any fevers, chills, shortness of breath, cough, or loss of taste or smell?
    • Have you been exposed to Covid in the last 10 days?
    • Are you taking any medications for any of those symptoms?
  • If visitors refuse or fail the health screening, OSH will cancel the visit to protect patients from potentially becoming infected with COVID-19.

Meanwhile, video visits will continue to be available to all patients.

Please see detailed information, visitation schedules and guidelines in the Salem visitation FAQs and the updated JC visitation FAQs for details.
