Electrology Temporary Trainee, Training Program

The Health Licensing Office (HLO) will begin accepting applications for the new Electrology Temporary Training Program (Training Program) on April 15, 2023. The Training Program was created to help reduce barriers for individuals trying to obtain licensure in Oregon.

The Training Program must be completed under the direction of an HLO-approved supervisor and includes the following requirements: 600 hours of training (200 hours of training in theory and 400 hours of practical experience), with a minimum of 400 electrology practical procedures required.

Before starting the Training Program, the following forms must be filled out, submitted, and approved by the HLO:

Once approval has been granted by the HLO, the trainee and the supervisor will be sent an Electrology Training Program (ETP) packet. The EPT packet will be used to guide the trainee and supervisor through the Training Program.

All trainees will be required to pass a final practical examination, administered by the supervisor, at the completion of their Training Program.

Prior to obtaining licensure as an electrologist in Oregon, the trainee will also be required to pass two written examinations: the Oregon Laws and Rules examination related to Safety and Infection Control requirements for electrology, and the National Interstate Council electrology examination.
