Seeking Applicants for Direct Entry Midwifery LD&D Continuing Education Committee

Wednesday, June 16, 2021

The Board of Direct Entry Midwifery tasked the Health Licensing Office (HLO) with assembling an Education Committee (EC) to review the Legend Drugs and Devices Initial Continuing Education Program (LDDICEP) to determine which requirements must be completed to obtain licensure in Oregon including:

  • Education completed at in-state and out-of-state schools;
  • Other state licensure, including previous experience;
  • Methods to verify education and experience; and
  • Additional educational requirements, including supervisory requirements.
The HLO is still seeking individuals to serve on the EC for the following representation:
  • One - Active or Retired Licensed Direct Entry Midwife
  • One - Certified Nurse Midwife with community birth experience

All recommendations will be presented to the Board for final approval and implementation. All EC members must be in good standing with no current or pending disciplinary action. In addition, unlicensed or traditional midwives will not be considered for membership.

To limit the exposure and spread of the COVID-19 virus and adhere to the Governor's physical distancing measures, the HLO is prohibiting in-person attendance at meetings. All EC meetings will be held using Microsoft Teams and directions on how to access the meetings will be provided to the appointed EC members prior to the first scheduled meeting.

If you meet one of the aforementioned representation criteria and are interested in serving as an EC member, please complete and return the interest form by June 30, 2021 (4 p.m.), by email to cerynthia.murphy@dhsoha.state.or.us, or by postal mail to:
