Federal High Risk Pool Information
Federal High Risk Pool

Oregon currently operates a federal high-risk pool in conjunction with its existing state high-risk program. Both serve adults and children who are unable to obtain medical insurance because of health conditions.

Plan design and rates vary somewhat between the state and federal pool.

Here is the latest:
  • The Federal Medical Insurance Pool (FMIP) will end on June 30, 2013.  Members will have the option to continue health care coverage after June 30 through the Federal Pre-Existing Condition Insurance Plan (PCIP). Information and resources will be available on the PCIP website at PCIP.gov or by calling 1-866-717-5826.
HCTC/Portability:
  • Applicants who are eligible to receive a Federal Health Coverage Tax Credit (HCTC) subsidy are only allowed to choose from one of the three OMIP medical plans.
  • Portability for OMIP remains the same and can select from either two OMIP portability plans.
Effective dates:
  • Effective dates will be the first of the month following the month in which the application has been processed and approved for OMIP coverage.
