Vaccines that come in freeze-dried or powdered form need to be reconstituted with diluent before they can be drawn up into the syringe.

Remember...manufacturers provide a specific diluent for each vaccine. Do not switch diluents, or substitute with saline or sterile water. It makes the vaccine unusable.
