Suicidal thoughts, or suicidal ideation, means thinking about or planning suicide. Thoughts can range from a detailed plan to a fleeting consideration. It does not include the final act of suicide.

A suicide attempt is when someone harms themselves with the intent to end their life, but they do not die as a result of their actions.

[Suicide] Completion is defined as death caused by self-directed injurious behavior with intent to die as a result of the behavior.
