The mission of the Oregon National Guard Child & Youth Program is to positively impact Service Member and Family readiness, resilience, and retention by providing secure, timely, flexible, and high-quality youth development opportunities and resources which promote the overall well-being of National Guard children and youth.

Oregon Military Teen Panel

The Teen Panel program aims to improve resiliency, team building, and leadership skills in the youth that we serve.

The Oregon Military Teen Panel serves as the voice of Oregon Military connected youth, they often speak during Yellow Ribbons and other events.

During their time on the Teen Panel, members have the opportunity to organize events for youth and their families and build lasting relationships with other military connected youth.

Army and Air National Guard youth who are in grades 9th-12th, and have a parent currently serving, are encouraged to apply.

Applications are accepted in April and May.

Mission

The Oregon Military Teen Panel (ORMTP) provides a voice for the Air and Army National Guard Youth across the state of Oregon. The panel also provides insight to OR National Guard and civilian leadership from the perspective of the youth on the panel.

Goals

Connect- Engage in consistent and effective communication with Child and Youth Program Coordinators, Airmen and Family Readiness Program Managers and other ORMTP members via emails, teleconferences, webinars, and social media.

Support- Provide input about current youth issues and direction for meeting, marketing, curriculum, and events. Promote and assist with planning youth trainings and events.

Inspire- Cultivate new ideas that motivate youth to participate within their communities and throughout the state.

Military Kids Club

This club meets twice a month from October to May for military connected youth ages 6-11 years old. Each month youth are taught resiliency skills, participate in a 4-H led STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) activity, and a practical learning project. There are two meeting options available: In person (Salem) or virtual (all materials are sent prior to meeting).

Members have a chance to connect, grow, learn, and have fun!

Note: We are full but have started a waitlist. When families aren’t able to make it consistently, we pull from the waitlist.

Oregon State Youth Symposium

A three-day conference that allows youth, ages 13-18, to have the opportunity to connect with other military youth, experience new adventures, and gain resiliency skills.

This special celebration is to recognize and applaud military connected children and youth for the daily sacrifices they make in supporting America's Armed Forces. In Oregon we celebrate the month of April with a variety of events.
