June 25, 2018

Silver Falls State Park will host the annual Historic Silver Falls Days July 14-15. Visitors can experience the rich history of the Silver Falls area via interactive exhibits, live demonstrations, historic artifacts and more. The free event runs 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. both days in the South Falls day-use area.

“Silver Falls is primarily known for its natural resources, but its cultural history is just as fascinating,” said Matt Palmquist, an Interpretive Ranger at the park. "The event is a fun way for the whole family to connect with Oregon's past."

Event activities: antique logging display; antique car show; horse-drawn wagon rides; horse logging demonstrations; live bluegrass band; mini canoe racing; historic storytelling; craft demonstrations and artifact displays; guided hikes; and old fashioned games.

Historic Silver Falls days has been held annually at the park since 2010. The event is organized by the Oregon Parks and Recreation Department (OPRD) and nonprofit Friends of Silver Falls.

Silver Falls State Park charges a $5 day-use parking fee. For more information about the event, contact the park (503) 873-8681 or visit oregonstateparks.org.
