Oregon Parks and Recreation Department to conduct public meeting for proposed Outback Scenic Bikeway

The Oregon Parks and Recreation Department will hold a public meeting for a proposed Oregon Scenic Bikeway at 5:30 pm., March 30 at the Lake County Memorial Hall, 513 Center St., Lakeview.

The proposed 90-mile-long Outback Scenic Bikeway uses existing roads and passes by the towns of Lakeview, Plush and Adele. The Bikeway offers expansive views of Drake Peak, the Coyote Hills, Fish Creek Rim, Hart Mountain Antelope Refuge and Warner Peak as well as pronghorn antelope, big horn sheep and sage grouse.

The meeting agenda will consist of a short presentation on the Oregon Scenic Bikeway Program and information on the proposed Painted Hills Scenic Bikeway followed by questions from the audience.

Public comment on the proposed bikeway will be taken at the meeting. Written public comment will be accepted both before and after the meeting until the Oregon State Parks and Recreation Commission acts on the proposed designation. Comments will be presented to the Oregon State Parks and Recreation Commission before the commission votes on designation.
