Oregon’s State Advisory Committee on Historic Preservation meets in Independence

June 6, 2014

Oregon’s State Advisory Committee on Historic Preservation (SACHP) will consider nominations to the National Register of Historic Places in a two-day meeting on June 12th and 13th at the Independence Event Center, Independence Civic Center (bottom floor), 555 S Main St., Independence. The public meeting will begin at 1:15pm on Thursday and 9:00am on Friday.

The Committee will review proposed nominations for properties in Cornucopia, Salem, Portland, Lostine, Beaverton, and unincorporated Douglas and Jefferson Counties. The Committee will also consider the removal of the John Baxter House in Dayton from the National Register and the expansion of the previously-listed Siskiyou Smokejumper Base historic district in Cave Junction. A meeting agenda, complete nominations, and further details about the nomination process are available at http://www.oregon.gov/oprd/HCD/NATREG/pages/nrhp_sachphome.aspx.
Nominations recommended for listing in the National Register by the SACHP are forwarded to the National Park Service, which maintains the Register under the authority of the National Historic Preservation Act of 1966, as amended. Members of the Committee hold credentials in many historic preservation-related fields.

The meeting site is accessible to people with disabilities. Special accommodations for the hearing impaired may be made by calling (503) 986-0690.  More information about the National Register and Oregon properties listed in the Register is online at www.oregonheritage.org (click on “National Register” on the left side of the page).
