Salmonberry Trail meeting set April 1

March 17, 2016

Tillamook OR - The Salmonberry Trail Intergovernmental Agency will meet at the Tillamook Forest Center on April 1, 2016 to discuss issues related to ownership and management of the proposed 84 mile Salmonberry Trail corridor that will connect the cities of Tillamook and Banks. The meeting will be from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. at the Tillamook Forest Center, 45500 Wilson River Hwy, Tillamook.

The agenda includes a presentation by Parametrix on local code adoption of the trail in coastal community plans. Other discussion items include updates on fundraising, rail banking and establishing trail segment planning committees. There will also be a work session for the board to adopt bylaws.

The Salmonberry Trail will connect eight cities and two counties, passing by the Oregon coastline, fisheries, farmland and the rugged Oregon Coast Range. The route follows the Port of Tillamook Bay Railway, which closed in 2007 after massive storm damage. The Salmonberry Trail Intergovernmental Agency was established to promote and facilitate coordinated direction and guidance in the planning, development and maintenance of the multi-use trail.
