National Fire Incident Reporting System & Elite Reporting

Oregon statute requires every fire chief to provide the OSFM with a report of every fire within their jurisdiction within seven days (ORS 476.210).

In the links below, you can find:

  • Materials on how to use the National Fire Incident Reporting System (NFIRS)
  • Information on the Oregon Incident Reporting Advisory Commission
  • Other helpful reference materials and guides

Generally, incident types 141 (forest, woods, or wildland fire), 142 (brush or brush-and-grass mixture fire), and 143 (grass fire) should be reported using the basic and wildland fire modules. Please do not use the fire module to report these fire incident types.

We appreciate your efforts with reporting incidents timely and accurately. If you need assistance with NFIRS reporting or have coding questions, please contact the Center for Fire Analytics, Intelligence and Research at 503-934-8250, 877-588-8787 (Toll Free), or osfm.data@osfm.oregon.gov.
