Oregon Health Plan (OHP) and COVID-19

Covered Services

At no cost to members, OHP covers these COVID-19 services:

  • Testing at clinics or labs
  • Up to 8 at-home tests per month without a doctor's order. For more than 8 at-home tests per month, ask your primary care provider.
  • Treatment
  • Vaccines and booster doses
  • Testing and hospitalization for out-of-state emergencies

OHP members do not have to pay a visit fee or make a donation to get a COVID-19 vaccine or booster.

OHP members who want to deliver their baby outside of a hospital can ask for a community (out-of-hospital) birth. They need to ask their doctor, midwife, or other provider.

To prevent exposure to COVID-19, OHP made some changes to the process for asking for community (out-of-hospital) births.

  • Before, you could only get approval if you were fewer than 27 weeks, 6 days pregnant. Now you can get approval up to the 38th week of your pregnancy.
  • There are also changes to the list of risks that require a hospital delivery. Ask your provider about what has changed and what will work best for your delivery.

You can set up appointments, talk to your providers, and get care without leaving your home. This is called “telehealth” and it’s free for OHP members.
  • Talk to your doctor or other providers about making a telehealth appointment.
  • You can also ask your CCO
  • If you need an interpreter or help in another language or format, tell your provider. They are there to help.

Learn more about getting care without leaving your home.

OHP covers all COVID-19 at-home tests that are approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), including COVID-19 home tests that require an internet connection or smartphone to read the results.

Pick up COVID-19 at-home tests at a pharmacy or retail store.
  • Bring the COVID-19 at-home test to the pharmacy counter.
  • Let the pharmacy know you have OHP.
If you can't find at-home tests at the pharmacy or store, ask your provider if they carry home test kits. OHP now allows these providers to bill for kits they give to fee-for-service ("open card") members:
  • Clinics
  • Hospitals
  • Federally Qualified Health Centers
  • Home health agencies
  • Independent laboratories
  • Indian Health Service facilities
  • Opioid treatment programs
  • Physicians and other practitioners
  • Rural health clinics
  • Skilled nursing facilities
