The Oregon Department of Agriculture contracted with Eileen Eakins, Attorney at Law with Jordan Schrader, to present five regional workshops on public contracting during the first two weeks of December 2005. Eileen also presented a training at the OACD Convention and Annual Meeting on November 15, 2005.

The new public contract rules require all districts to develop and adopt local contracting rules for purchasing and contracting activities. The workshops offered free professional assistance to develop local contracting rules specific to conservation districts. Eileen provided templates of example rules, sample resolutions, and other information that could be used to customize local contracting rules for each district.
