ORVET Home Loan Now a Lifetime Benefit
Loans by veterans, for veterans.
Since 1946, the Oregon Department of Veterans' Affairs has helped more than 334,000 veterans realize their dreams of owning a home, loaning over $7.5 billion to veterans. ODVA offers a state veterans' home loan that is an additional and distinctively separate benefit from the Federal VA Home Loan Guaranty Program. The current maximum loan amount for a single family, owner occupied residence is $417,000 or a veteran's remaining eligibility amount if there has been a previous ODVA loan. The program is designed specifically to provide veterans the lowest interest rate possible and is secured through special federal bonding only available to state home loan programs.

Oregon Veterans' Home: The Place Where Honor Lives
Learn more about the Oregon Veterans' Home.
One of the many things that truly sets the Oregon Veterans' Home apart from other care communities is its residents. Like you, they have served their country during war time and in times of peace. Having lived full lives, they have many memories and stories to share. They are veterans, just like you.

Welcome to the place where honor lives. Welcome to the Oregon Veterans' Home.

Situated on 15 acres, the Home is located in the historic Columbia Gorge city of The Dalles. From its hilltop location, residents have a beautiful panoramic view of the city, the Columbia River, The Dalles Dam and majestic Mt. Hood.

Opened in the fall of 1997, the Home can care for as many as 151 residents who need long-term care in a care facility that provides skilled nursing, Alzheimer's and dementia-related care, and inpatient and outpatient rehabilitative care to veterans, their spouses and parents who have lost a child who was serving in the U.S. Armed Forces.

In 2008, the Home was awarded the Step II Award for Quality Achievement from the American Health Care Association (AHCA) and the National Center for Assisted Living (NCAL). To date, the Home is one of only 170 care facilities in the nation - and one of only two state veterans' homes - to achieve this level of recognition.

The State of Oregon offers veterans a distinct license plate to display their service in the Armed Forces throught the Military Veteran Recognition License Plate Program.

For $10 every two years, an eligible veteran may register a Veteran Recognition Plate with military insignia or blank Veteran Plate. A variety of license plates relating to military service are available and a portion of the fees from that plate helps support the Oregon Veterans' Home.

Disabled veterans who are recieving compensation may also apply for a one-time registration fee for motor vehicle registration. Disabled veterans must provide proof that the qualifying disability is connected with service in the Armed Forces of the United States.
