Afghan - Iraqi Freedom Memorial
The Afghan-Iraqi Freedom Memorial (#3)

Inspired by Oregon’s Gold Star families, this memorial not only honors the state's military members who have paid the ultimate sacrifice in Afghanistan and Iraq, but is also a tribute to all Oregon veterans.
The oval shaped memorial was dedicated on Veterans' Day, Nov. 11, 2006.  Its centerpiece is a fountain and within the pool is a bronze statue of a United States soldier which symbolizes America reaching out to offer help worldwide.

The soldier faces the granite wall where the inscribed names of Oregonians, and those with Oregon military ties, that have been killed while serving in Afghanistan and Iraq are listed.
On the east side of this memorial the U.S., Oregon, and POW-MIA flags stand tall along with the flags of all five military service branches. They partially surround the memorial and are flown 24 hours a day.
