  • Tony Adam's Peaceable Kingdom
    Join us at the South Slough Reserve for a special Labor Day Art Opening Saturday, September 5th from 2:00-4:00 pm. Tony's paintings will be on display in the Interpretive Center auditorium until the end of October.
    Tony specializes in realistic animals, people and landscapes and was the winner of the People’s Choice Award during the 2013 Miniature & Small Works Show at the Art by the Sea Gallery. He uses considerable skill as a realist to produce works of wildlife, landscape and portraiture. Each of Tony’s animal depictions are charming, and infused with personality. Come meet the artist as you relax in the natural beauty of South Slough. (free)

  • Creature Feature ! Macro to Micro
    Have you ever missed an opportunity to learn about some of the cool creatures that inhabit South Slough because you couldn’t make it to the program? Visit the Creature Feature program by clicking on this link: CREATURE FEATURE!  We will be exploring some of the life from upland forests and the waters of the estuary. As a part of the program, we will share how scientists studying the estuary use some special sampling equipment to attract larval crabs so that we can better understand how abundant they are.

 Trail & Treat Run

Join us for the 2015 South Slough Trail-n-Treat Run 
Saturday, October 17th at 10:30 am.
Bonus 10 Minute Trail kids(12 and under) run, 10:00 am. *Optional-Dress as your favorite estuary animal.
The 5k run/walk course is on Reserve property along technical trails, boardwalks, and hills with a 300 foot change in elevation.  Run where the river meets the sea, along vast tidal flats, extensive marshes and meandering channels. Volunteers will be stationed along the trails and courses will be clearly marked to make your experience more enjoyable. Restrooms and water are available at the start/finish area. Please leave pets at home.
Entry Fee: Kids run: free; 5k mile run/walk: $15.00 ($12.00 for SCRC members and students ages 13-17)
Shirts: An adult race t-shirt shirt will be available for an additional $15.00, a children’s for $12.00.
T-shirt order must be received by September 9th in order to ensure availability. 
Additional shirts will be available on race day but limited to stock on hand.
Proceeds from the event go to the Friends of South Slough Reserve, Inc., a non-profit organization in support of the Reserve's education fund for internship stipends.

South Slough NERR
encompasses a mixture of open water channels, tidal and freshwater wetlands, riparian areas, and forested uplands.  The Reserve supports and coordinates research, education, and stewardship programs which serve to enhance a scientific and public understanding of estuaries and contribute to improved estuarine management.  South Slough Reserve is part of the National Estuarine Research Reserve System (NERRS), a network of 28 reserves dedicated to research, education and stewardship.
