Aquatic resource coordinators in the Department of State Lands administer programs to protect and manage Oregon´s wetland resources.
Wetlands staff help local governments with wetland inventories and planning and help property owners determine if removal-fill permits are needed. They also provide wetland delineation expertise (guidance and report review) to local governments, consultants and agencies.
Wetlands staff also coordinate research and develop tools to improve the Department's regulatory permit program.
Wetlands staff implement the program elements contained in the 1989 Wetlands Conservation Act, and also help implement the Removal-Fill Law.
The program has close ties with local wetland planning conducted by cities, providing both technical and planning assistance.
Key elements include:
Statewide Wetlands Inventory
National Wetlands Inventory
Local Wetlands Inventories
Public Information and Education
Wetland Identification, Delineation and Function Assessment
Wetland Land Use Notification
