  • About Oregon's Energy Efficient Schools Program
Oregon's electric industry restructuring law (Senate Bill 1149, 2001) sets aside funds for improving energy efficiency in schools in the service areas of Portland General Electric and Pacific Power. Education service districts administer the funds. More than 800 schools will benefit. Funds must first go to energy audits, then to measures recommended by those audits. The Oregon Department of Energy provides technical oversight for the audits and projects to ensure consistency statewide with the program guidelines.
  • Oregon PUDs helping Oregon schools
Consumer-owned utilities work with their local school districts to help them find energy savings, reduce their energy costs and put more money back in the classroom. Oregon’s People’s Utility Districts have been providing school districts with technical assistance, programs and services for more than 12 years. Cost-effective energy efficiency makes good business sense for the schools as well as the PUDs. To find out more about the PUDs’ efforts with their local schools – including project costs, efficiency captured and energy saved – please go here.
