Financial Aid and Access Programs - Introducing the HECC Office of Student Access and Completion

We’re pleased to introduce the statewide work of the Higher Education Coordinating Commission (HECC) Office of Student Access and Completion (OSAC). OSAC State Financial Aid and Access Programs

The website for students and families who wish to explore and apply for financial aid is OregonStudentAid.gov.

The state, federal, and private-funded financial aid programs described here are administered by the HECC Office of Student Access and Completion (OSAC). OSAC is responsible for the administration of state financial aid and access programs, including budget recommendations, fiscal management, policy, and awarding of financial aid to Oregon students at private and public institutions statewide.

Financial Aid

OSAC awards over $100 million in grant and scholarship aid every year. Our programs include the following.

• Oregon Opportunity Grant (OOG): Oregon’s largest state-funded, need-based grant program, which helps students pay for college at public and participating private institutions statewide
  
• Oregon Promise Grant: A grant for recent Oregon high school graduates and GED recipients to support tuition costs at Oregon community colleges
  
• Oregon Tribal Student Grant: A grant supporting college costs for enrolled members of Oregon's nine federally recognized Tribes
  
• Other Financial Aid programs including: Chafee Grant, helping current or former foster care youth with postsecondary education and training; Child Care Grant, Oregon National Guard State Tuition Assistance, and more
  
• OSAC Scholarships: OSAC administers over 600 private scholarships for Oregon students to pursue college and career training beyond high school
  

Access and Success Programs

OSAC also administers student outreach and mentoring programs to support college and career readiness, including the following.

• ASPIRE: Providing information and mentoring support to help students from middle school through community college to plan for success in college and careers
  
• Outreach and initiatives to support students and families with financial aid, including the FAFSA Plus+ initiative , financial aid presentations, financial aid webinars, and more
